Position: Director of Cathedral Music Ministries (DCMM) for the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart in San Angelo, TX.
Pay: $40,000 - $45,000 depending on experience plus benefits
Hours: Full-time employee. Four weekend Masses, weekend liturgies, weekly rehearsals, staff meetings, negotiated Diocesan events, required training, and other times as deemed by Rector of Cathedral. Must be able to speak and converse in English and be competent in Spanish.
Job Description: Music Director must have minimum of Bachelor’s degree in music and/or have approximately five years’ experience in a parochial setting. The DCMM is a pastoral musician of service and must be a worshiper of the Roman Catholic faith and belong to the assembly. The DCMM considered a vital part of the pastoral team of the Parish, and as such engages the parish in an on-going educational process regarding the place of music in liturgical celebration, attends to the continuing spiritual and musical growth of parish music volunteers, provides appropriate training for cantors, organists, and members of musical ensembles and takes part in the development of sacramental guidelines (particularly for weddings, quinceaneras, funerals, etc.) to serve the needs of the Parish. The DCMM will also be the music lead for funerals, weddings, quinceaneras, etc.
The Director of Cathedral Music Ministries must demonstrate a knowledge and application of Church documents. Must also be competent to play the piano and organ. The Cathedral piano is a baby Grand. The Cathedral organ is a Four-Manual pipe/digital combination Allen Bravura with the Drawknob Package. Pipes are envisioned for a later time.
