Job Description: The Director of Sacred Music will lead/develop liturgical music for all parish liturgies; including choirs, accompanists, instrumentalists and others in music ministry. The director will work with the school music program to teach and evangelize our Pre-K-6 day school students, as well as our K-12 faith formation students, and incorporate them into Sacred Liturgies. He or she will arrange music for funerals and weddings and will foster and encourage "full, conscious and active participation" of parishioners in liturgical celebrations through the gift of music.
Qualifications: • Practicing Roman Catholic and a disciple of Jesus Christ • College degree in Music and/or Organ or related area or equivalent prior work experience. • Demonstrate competency to play organ as well as piano. Strong overall music skills • Experience as a skilled choir director with the ability to direct a variety of choirs. • Knowledgeable in all kinds of church music, including Latin, Gregorian chant, Church hymnody, contemporary Christian and other. • Ability to involve youth and young adults in the liturgy. • Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours. • Positive interpersonal skills
