One must remember that the salaries we enjoy here in the USA are not enjoyed by many around the world. That is why some of us MOVE HERE AND STEAL YOUR JOBS.

It's a 27 hour work week for most of the year So less than 75% of full time. And likely it comes with teaching, wedding, funeral and intellectual-property rights that boost the earning capacity considerably, as well as a short-enough work week to allow the incumbent to take on substantial outside gigs.

And it's in the UK, so has access to things like state-provided health care and pension contributions - it's just not possible to directly compare UK and US salaries in any field.

End of the day, it's all about demand and supply. If the rate is too low, they won't be able to fill the position.

Yes, the employer has to pay health and pension contributions directly on top of the salary, so international comparisons are difficult. But surveys show starting salary for professional musicians averages about 10% more than this rate, without experience. Most church musicians will need and have other work.
