New Psalm Response in Order of Celebrating Matrimony
  • The newly issued Order of Celebrating Matrimony seems to have added a new Responsorial Psalm refrain for Psalm 145. The Lectionary lists "The Lord is compassionate toward all his works" and in the Ritual book it now says "How good is the Lord to all." Anyone have any idea about this change?
  • It was mentioned at the Diocese of Cleveland music director meeting last month. No explanation though.
  • Maybe another (better) translation from the Latin (OLM 803.6)?

Ps 145(144), 9a: Suavis Dominus universis.

It seems the Lectionary has verse 9b as the response, whereas the OLM and the new Ritual book have verse 9a:

    Nova Vulgata:
    9a Suavis Dominus universis,
9b et miserationes eius super omnia opera eius.

    Revised Grail:
9a How good is the LORD to all,
9b compassionate to all his creatures.
