For any of you who have had the occasion to use a smaller orchestral group at Mass, do you have favorite pieces that they might do themselves, or with organ? I'm defining smaller orchestral group as more than 20 players but less than 30. Something like 1111.2211.Timp.Strings. I'm looking for some processional music for orchestra or orchestra and organ. The Mozart concertos will work, and I have those. As much as I'd love to, the Saint-Saëns symphony won't work because there won't be a piano in the venue—nor a harp.
The recessional song will be O God Beyond All Praising, so I'm very tempted to re-orchestrate Jupiter for the forces on hand to follow on as the postlude...
