The content of these videos follows the general narrative of our local Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted's, 4-part series Singing the Mass, which is being provided in the bulletin during the 4-week series of videos.
In this video, you'll see some of the interior of the current worship space - the new building seems even more glorious in contrast.
Again, I'm sharing this here as we complete each video. I hope that it will help to inspire this community. Please keep it here, for now.
Once the series is done (and some of the production things touched up), I will be writing much more (here and elsewhere) about this parish music program, building, and future goals.
Beautifully done. Admirably sensible. You should export these videos throughout the Church. There are many places at which, Deo gratias, they would not be needed. But too many others where they should point to a richer and more genuine liturgical life.
I want to have cleaner A/V editing of these before I really promote this series. These rough versions work fine on our drop-down projector and aged sound system, but they're obviously very rough if viewed on a good computer with quality speakers.
(So, if anyone would be willing to help with that, please send me a private message!)
Ryan, Are all of these Videos recorded already. If not, I would have the priest wear a lavalier mic and an ambience mic over the top of them. You can then mix them together or use the best one for the best sound. You also might experiment with a gate to cut out unwanted noise. The closer the source is to the mic the cleaner and clearer the sound will be.
These were done with a rather basic home video camera. We don't have access to mics like you're describing, although I've thought about re-recording these with a professional crew at some point.
There are a few more things I can do with the audio when the project is not on a rush-order to each weekend - but no matter how much rubbish is polished, it will never become a diamond.
The scripts and concept of this whole thing are very pleasing to me. I'm just concerned about the quality of the presentation.
