Since our Priest asked to create a more reverent atmosphere before Mass, we came up with this reminder chant.

Relying on Google Translate for the Latin has its shortcomings.

Do you have anything about quiescere telephonia vestra?

"We speak to God before Mass. God speaks to us during Mass. We speak to each other after Mass."

That was what I was going for, Richard, but I didn't care for Google Translate not knowing how to handle "telephones." Perhaps a second version is in order.

The Vatican dictionary of neo-Latin might help.

The Latin Wikipedia uses "telephonum", for what it's worth.

  • Carl,

I think you may have (accidentally) hit on something. Our "phones" are, for many individuals, our "thinkers".

Perhaps the text you want is something like this: The Lord was not in the earthquake ..... but in the still small voice.

Too bad that my phone does such a lousy job of thinking, Chris! ;-)
