I'm working on a worship aid for SS. Simon and Jude and, in addition to the line art CMAA and CCWatershed so helpfully provide, I'd like to inset the Latin | English propers using a fancy initial font for the initial letter of each of the propers.
What free/standard font combinations have you seen used nicely?
I've used Goudy Initialen with Goudy Old Style but I recommend they be of a fairly large size. If the Goudy Initialen initials are too small, they lose their detail.
I managed to buy the last release of CS6 under perpetual license. You can get the new version off of Creative Cloud, if you like, but it's payment under the subscription model instead.
Ha! I use Word and achieve results as good as most. I wouldn't if I were prepping for full color, bleeds, high-end photographs, etc., but for b/w, conventional margins, and a two-column format, I don't see the point of something more expensive and complex. (I do use Acrobat Professional extensively.)
Word is tricky because it has fewer options and it is hard to format well and to keep the program from messing it up. But, yes, it can be used well for simpler layouts.
