A loss to all of us!
This is sad for us, but, we pray, glorious for him.
Few people. Catholic or other, make a contribution to sacred music as worthy as his.

Here is a fascinating conversation with three Music Directors of King's - David Willcocks, Philip Ledger and Stephen Cleobury.

Sad to think that Dr. Cleobury is the only one left: Sir Philip died in 2012.

He was a prince among men, and musicians. Even though I never met him, I've been inspired all my life by his dedication to excellence in musicianship, combined with humility and humanity. A few years back, I had the unforgettable privilege of singing lauds from the Antiphonale Monasticum in Kings College Chapel very early one morning, opposite one other person - a wonderful choral scholar from Kings. Just the two of us. My thoughts were divided, I confess, between the Almighty, the beauty of the Chapel (especially the roof), its acoustic, and the great Sir David. R.I.P. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
