Saint Joseph the Worker Parish/School in Beal City is seeking to hire a Director of Music/Organist
General Description: The Director of Music is a member of the parish/school staff with professional preparation and pastoral sensitivity to the celebration of Catholic liturgy and ritual and the importance of music to the Liturgy. In conjunction with the pastor/parochial administration and as a member of the liturgical team, the Director of Music provides leadership in the planning, execution and celebration of all parish liturgies, with special emphasis on the musical leadership, coordination and formation of parish cantors, choirs and accompanists and fostering participation in music by the assembly.
• Position is part time with a possibility of full time through teaching duties in the school.
Ideal candidate would possess the following attributes:
• General knowledge of the Catholic Church, Catholic sacraments, Catholic rites and liturgies. • Effective in working with parishioners and parish/diocesan leaders, effective in working with volunteers. • Ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment; ability to support team programs, projects and events. • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and knowledge of office equipment. • Ability to use computer and required software (MS-Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). • Well organized in work habits: dependable, punctual, independent worker and self-starter; must be analytical, detail-oriented, flexible and decisive. • Performance skills in organ and piano. • Conducting and arranging/orchestration skills. • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and compose correspondence, memos and announcements.
