Looking for a PT or FT Music Director for our parish.
LOCATION: 15 minutes from O'Hare Airport in Chicago
DESCRIPTION: The position of Music Director is to direct the music program in the parish. It includes singing and playing the organ on Saturday and Sunday Masses. He/she is also to play at the weekly children’s school Mass every Friday, as well as all feast days, First Saturdays, special liturgies, weddings, and funerals. He/she is to direct an adult choir and children's choir with rehearsal weekly. As Music Director, you are also responsible for attending monthly staff meetings and work with the staff on various projects, including preparing liturgies. The Music Director will also teach music in the school, grades 1 through 8.
Skills must include proficiency with the organ and singing. Must be familiar with conducting a choir. Must be familiar with Gregorian chant. Some knowledge of Latin and Spanish is helpful. The parish has recently installed and restored the 40 rank 1908 Wangerin-Weickhardt Pipe Organ.
This is for Full time position. A part time position responsibilities may be discussed if interested.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must be able to play the organ well. 2. Must be able to sing and play organ for Sunday Masses. 3. Must be familiar with Gregorian Chant.
