The Parish of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal, 9601 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, Maryland, has an immediate opening for a Tenor Section Leader in the Parish Choir. The Parish Choir sings on Sundays at the 10:00 a.m. from September to June. The Sunday schedule consists of a 9:10 a.m. rehearsal in preparation for the 10:00 a.m. Mass. There are extra liturgies during Christmastide and the Paschal Triduum (Holy Week), at which attendance is mandatory. A weekday rehearsal is held on Thursday evenings from 8pm-10pm.

The Parish Choir of the Parish of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal is a predominantly volunteer ensemble that specializes in sacred music for the Roman Catholic liturgy, including but not limited to Gregorian Chant and Renaissance polyphony through contemporary choral works. The role of the Section Leader is to provide musical support and leadership to their respective vocal section.

Candidates for the position must be active vocal artists. Some requirements include:

• Sight-singing and quick learning skills
• Strong vocal technique is required
• Ability to sing a cappella is required
• Ability to sing Gregorian Chant
• Ability to be independent on own voice part and be comfortable demonstrating preparedness by singing in a quartet
• Ability to sing in English and Latin, as well as other languages, as necessary
• Ability to blend volume, tone, and vowels is required
• Flexibility in singing various choral styles and periods is required.
• Preparing music outside of rehearsals is expected.
