Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church and Shrine, Principal Church of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter, cordially welcomes applications for the position of organist/choirmaster. The parish community seeks well-qualified, enterprising individuals interested in promoting dynamic growth in extant choral projects across such dimensions as craft, culture and commitment.

Responsibilities currently include preparing, training and programming for three choirs (the parish choir, treble choir for boys and girls, and in-residence Evensong choir, Chorus Angelorum); accompanying two masses on Sunday morning and playing appropriate solo literature; preparing and directing choral evensong one Sunday afternoon per month; and working closely with the parish clergy and staff in preparing music for additional masses, as well as other musical events and services. Responsibilities projected to expand.

Eligibility determined as follows:

Minimum Master's Degree in Music
Minimum five year's experience as principal organist and/or choirmaster
Excellent sight reading and improvisational skills
Strong understanding of both Anglican and Catholic liturgy, including choral and organ repertoire and related service music ( i.e. accompanying congregation during hymns, mass ordinary, and sung responses, as well as expertise in Anglican chant, and familiarity with Gregorian chant)
Experience in increasing membership in choirs and developing skills of both professional and amateur musicians of all ages
Ability to provide effective vocal model for choiristers and to foster healthy, flexible voice production

The salary will reflect the candidates experience and be in accordance with guidelines of the American Guild of Organists
