W and I beg the readership here for prayers on behalf of a young friend of our grandson. Sydney is a beautiful young lady, twelve, whose parents (wonderful Christians, musicians-Dad is a Lutheran Youth Minister) have upon medical advice decided to bring her home from further extraordinary, heroic treatment for Sydney's aplastic anemia at Children's Hospital. David and Heather let the community know of their decision, but took pains to emphasize their belief in prayer and miracles. I ask you all to share your prayers with our loving and merciful Lord only, and not here. Occasions such as this, and all that may be vexing us in our daily world and on this earth, remind us of the Caananite woman's humility and how Christ guided her to true faith because of her unyielding love for her daughter. Our prayers for Sydney are also prayers for ourselves to keep faith. God bless us all, my friends. Charlie
I don't know that Canaanite woman's name, but ask her to pray for Sydney--she was mighty good at getting Our Lord to answer her prayer, even though He seemed to be telling her he wasn't going to do it!
Tomorrow's the feast of St Monica. When I hear of children in need, I always recommend them to her. She knows the sorrows of a mother, when her child suffers.
