Parish Organist Sacred Heart Church, New Carlisle, OH
Seeking a part-time organist to provide accompaniment for the congregation and various ensembles to include three weekend liturgies (down to two weekend liturgies starting in July 2015), choir rehearsals one evening a week during the choir year (nine months out of the year), Holy Week/Easter, Christmas, and Holy Days, and others para-liturgical events as planned (monthly adoration, etc.). Weekly preludes/postludes, chosen by the organist, are desired. Weddings and funerals extra. Flexible summer schedule available.
Organist should have a working knowledge of chant accompaniment techniques, appreciation for the liturgical patrimony of sacred music in the church, and embrace Progressive Solemnity and how it relates to proper organ registration and music selection. The successful candidate will demonstrate skill and creativity in the areas of accompanying, service playing, and possible improvisation. Hispanic music ministry experience a plus. Music is chosen by the Director of Music and is drawn primarily from The St. Michael Hymnal, in addition to a growing choral music repertoire. Competitive salary based on education and experience.
