In many diocese, Corpus Christi is moved to the Sunday.
What are you planning to do for mass on Corpus Christi?
At the moment, I've not settled on a Processional Hymn, but I'm thinking "Let All Mortal Flesh" (PICARDY) for Offertory and "Godhead Here in Hiding" (ADORO TE) at communion. At my parish all masses will have exposition of the blessed sacrament for a short while afterwards. I'll use "O Salutaris Hostia/O Saving Victim" (MELCOMBE) at the end of mass for the exposition.
If I had a small choral group, I would be doing Tallis' "Verily, Verily" or possibly the Byrd "Ave Verum Corpus."
We're having two First Communions next Sunday on the Feast of Corpus Christi and an outdoor procession followed by Benediction so I've got to get all my ducks lined up in a hurry. This is my tentative plan:
Entrance: O praise ye the Lord (LAUDATE DOMINUM) *Hat tip to Salieri for this one. It's the same opening words as the verse which is sung with Adoremus in Aeternum. Introit: Cibavit eos Gradual: Oculi omnium Alleluia: Caro mea Sequence: Lauda Sion Offertory: Sacerdotes Domini Offertory Motet: Adoremus in aeternum (Allegri) Communion: Quotiescumque Communion Motet: Verbum caro panem verum (Palestrina) Mass Setting: Mass II Missa Fons Bonitatis Credo I
Procession and Benediction: Pange Lingua Adoro te devote O Jesus we adore Thee O Salutaris Hostia (Duguet) Tantum Ergo Holy God
Bobby, I'm not sure what is done in the OF anymore, but on the EF calendar, or ordo, the Feast of Corpus Christi is this Thursday, the Thursday after Trinity Sunday which is a commemoration of Holy Thursday. However, in countries where it is not a Holy Day of Obligation (such as the US), it is translated to the Second Sunday after Pentecost (thus replacing the usual Mass for the Second Sunday after Pentecost). (As explained on a Catholic forum online.)
Schola rehearsals on hiatus. SEP/Simple Choral Propers for them. SEP Introit/Communio for Ensemble. Choral motets- Kevin Allen "Tantum ergo" My own "Ave Verum Corpus" http://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=o7dzkbyCPUs Congregational to include "Adoro te" and Hillert's "Festival Canticle." Ensemble congregational to include another of my pieces "This is My Body." http://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=D27L-EQpsU4
Entrance: Alleluia, Sing to Jesus ((HYFRDOL) WLP Psalm ICEL Chant Ordinary Offertory: Panis Angelicus - Franck Rice Communion Proper Communion Hymn: Eat This Bread - Berthier Recessional: At That First Eucharist (UNDE ET MEMORES) Postlude: Festal March from Rinaldo - Handel
Propers from SEP Ordinary is Mass of the Most Sacred Heart by Bancks Jesus My Lord, My God, My All Sequence short form in English Responsorial by JMO Mass is followed immediately by procession with singing O Salutaris, O Jesus We Adore Thee, Tamtum Ergo, etc. ending with Holy God We Praise Thy Name
Our EF High Mass w/ Procession will be celebrated on Thursday, and will also include a group First Communion and Scapular investiture ceremony. Like JulieColl posted above, I, too, must get my ducks in order quickly!
Preludes: 1) Salve Regina (Solemn tone) 2) The Kiss of Christ (First Communion hymn) Processional: Jesus, My Lord, My God, My All (requested) Propers: Men's Schola Mass VIII Lauda Sion Sequence Credo III Offertory: Adoro Te Devote Communion: 1) Panis Angelicus (Franck) 2) O Cor Amoris 3) O Sacrum Convivium (Remondi) 4) Pie Pellicane
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament: O Salutaris Hostia Procession: 1) Pange Lingua 2) Sacris Solemniis 3) Verbum Supernum 4) Aeterne Rex Altissime Benediction: Tantum Ergo Laudes Divinae (Divine Praises) Adoremus in Aeternum Investiture in the Scapular: Singularis (chant) Closing Hymn: Holy God, We Praise Thy Name
Will also play some of the above-mentioned improvisational themes as organ-filler. And then, after the completion of this Mass, I'll quickly have to get ducks in order for next Friday's High Mass for the Feast of the Sacred Heart.
Perhaps I'll use "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty" for the entrance, with the verse where it says "Christ the High Priest bids us now join in His feast, victims with Him on the altar."
My other option is "Alleluia, Sing to Jesus" with the verse about the eucharistic feast.
The trouble with being an organist in a suburban parish church is that you often have to cut the entrance hymn short because they don't use incense and the processions are fairly short.
yeah, I had another brain fart, Someone asked me if we were doing "O Jesus, We Adore You", then someone posted on this forum that they were doing it. Then I started to search for it. It really is tough getting old.
@DonR--yeah, I think people refer to it both ways (O Sacrament Most Holy and O Jesus, We Adore Thee/You) but I think it's generally the same thing. There are other O Jesus, We Adore You hymns but my guess is that the one you already had programmed is the one you want.

Sorry about the formatting...also...just realized this afternoon that the communion antiphon is wrong...oops...
It's a nice motet, but you can tell Palestrina didn't have his game face on...lots of weird non-endings of phrases, etc. Then again, I am biased toward the Tudors and my buddy Tomas.
A relapse (caused by the sequence) from our usual 3-hymn sandwich model:
At the Lamb's high feast (SALZBURG) Kyrie &c from Schubert's Deutsche Messe Responsorial "O praise the Lord Jerusalem" Guimont Sequence "Contemplate the bread of angels" with Dupré's 3-part fugetta as intonation Off. O sacrum convivium Messiaen Comm. Qui manducat followed by Adoro te Holy God, we praise thy(!) name (GROSSER GOTT)
Our Schola sang for both the 10:00 and 11:30 Masses today. This is our 3rd year singing these chants so they sounded wonderfully relaxed and musical! (As opposed to the first and second years when we sounded like we were sweating bullets trying to get them right!)
11:30 Mass - with Eucharistic procession & Benediction Prelude: Anima Christi (Kevin Allen) Entrance: Cibavit eos (Gregorian Chant) Gloria: VIII English Adaptation by Bruce E Ford Sequence: Chanted entire sequence in English (solo) Offertory: Portas caeli (Gregorian Chant) Holy, Mem. Accl., Amen, Lamb: Heritage Mass Communion: Hoc corpus (Gregorian Chant) Ave Verum Corpus (W. Byrd) Procession: Pange lingua Benediction Holy God We Praise Thy Name Recessional: Tantum Ergo (Kevin Allen)
We had, at the Ordinariate Mass, the Gregorian propers and Sequence, Josquin's Missa Pange, lingua, Ave Verum by a local composer and occasional choir member called John Duggan, Lord enthroned in heavenly splendour (T: St Helen), and the usual plainsong for Benediction.
The main parish mass (another church some distance away) had Missa de Angelis and Credo III, Lord enthroned..., Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all, Hopkins' Adoro te to chant, and Pange, lingua in English for the procession. Benedictionalia in Latin. I don't think they've had a procession since the 60s. Mass in the chapel of ease had the same hymns, ICEL ordinary and no procession. All of this is some way from where the parish has been musically and liturgically in the past, but the foundations are increasingly firming up. Incremental and simple singing of the propers begins from the week after next: we shall see whether the building is still standing afterwards...
Processional: Alleluia, Sing To Jesus (HYFRADOL) Offertory: Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence (PICARDY) Communion: See Us Lord, About Thine Altar (DRAKES BROUGHTON) Thanksgiving: Soul of My Saviour (ANIMA CHRISTI) Postlude: Improvisation on Picardy Ordinary: Mass of St Francis by P Taylor
Both the Saturday 6pm and Sunday 6pm Congregations sang. Particularly surprising, since the Sunday 6pm "Last Chance Mass" are usually the least enthusiastic singers.
Saint Edward, Newark, CA Solemnity of the Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ: 10:00 AM Full Gregorian Proper, Mass VIII, Offertory Motet: "Sanctificavit Moyses" a 5 ... Palestrina, Communion Anthem: "Verily, verily, I Say Unto You" ... Tallis, Hymn to the BVM: "Salve Regina" ... Simple Tone. Lessons & Gospel chanted in English.
I've sung "Sanctificavit Moyses." Not the most memorable of Palestrina's motets, but still excellent music.
Most parish choirs with a bit of dedication should be able to do Tallis' " Verily, Verily I Say Unto You" it should be considered a staple piece of music.
