Cappella Artemisia, the renowned international women's ensemble based in Italy and dedicated to performing music from the convents of 16th- and 17th-century Italy, has just released its 8th CD: "Weep and Rejoice: Music for Holy Week from the Convents of 17th-Century Italy". This recording presents works composed both by and for the cloistered nuns which they would have performed during Holy Week and Easter Sunday. The CD features an ensemble of 8 voices, a large basso continuo section and even a pair of transverse flutes.
