I wanted to share this very moving (but not terribly difficult) SATB arrangement which was sung at Pope Francis I's Mass at the Sistine Chapel for the closing of the Conclave.

Luigi Molfino (1916-2012) was a noted organist and choirmaster at Milan.

Fortunately, the score is available online here.

I imagine this could be sung during Lent without the Alleluia.

Another fabulous recording, this time with the choir circling the nave. (In Milan)

  • Thank you, Julie! This and the sample audio for Prof K's new collection prove that a composer need not be dead to write beautiful music - if that makes any sense.

Music has been killed by the sad use of modern comforts of carpet, cushions and cheap substitutes for hard surfaces, as we can hear here. Singing in a dead room is like painting a watercolor landscape on a sponge.
