These are the hymns I selected for Feb 2, but I'm not entirely happy with my choices. Anyone have suggestions?
Entrance: Praise to the Lord (Entrance Ant: "Your merciful love O Lord we have received in the midst of Your temple...") Offertory: Of the Father's Love Begotten (Divinum Mysterium) Communion: Canticle of Simeon (Hommerding/WLP) Communion Ant: "Mine eyes have seen Your salvation..." Recessional: Joy to the World (end of Christmas)
Remember that in the Ordinary Form (which I am perhaps falsely assuming this is), Presentation is not in the Christmas season, though it does certainly have some of the same theme.
My setting of the Nunc dimittis is appropriate for Candlemas as well as Compine. The link is to the CPDL page hosting the ATBarB and SATB editions. Here is an MP3 of the SATB version. The SATB score with a keyboard reduction is attached (the CPDL site has the score without the keyboard reduction).
Lift Up Your Heads, which fits many contexts from November to Advent to Christmas and beyond. It goes well with the idea of God entering his temple. We will also be singing Creator of the Stars of Night, which I believe to be appropriate even though it is technically an Advent hymn.
