Bravo to the Deacon for such a grand job! Very beautifully done. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see what the EF Sung Gospel sounds like in contrast. Here is the Gospel from the Midnight Mass from the Fraternity of St. Peter's website:
I don't understand why this tone, which first appeared in Guidetti's Directorium chori in 1582, was used at a papal Mass. It is the least satisfactory of the three found in the Graduale Romanum. It does not respect the textual accents. The oldest and best of these tones is Tone C.
I now see that Tone C is the one that was used in the Fraternity of St. Peter's Mass. It is not necessarily associated with the "Extraordinary Form." It is found in both pre-Conciliar and post-Conciliar books. With occasional adjustments it works well with English texts, too.
