French mass near New Orleans
  • I will be in Laurel, Miss. after Christmas, not to far from New Orleans. Does any know of a parish where there is still a French mass near to there?
  • I'm sure someone will quickly zoom in on a location near you. So I will start it out with Quebec. Joking aside, I love a French mass.

Well, Laurel is 150 miles from New Orleans, so even if there is one in the NOLA archdiocese, it'll be a sacrifice to drive to it.

Probably the best source of information is to call the Office for Worship: http://worship.arch-no.org/ .

[Addition: a professor of French at LSU tells me that there are a few parishes where Mass is offered in French: river parishes south of New Orleans, maybe in the cathedral (though I find no information about that on the cathedral's web site). Also in the diocese of Lafayette, but that is farther west.]
  • You are really not going to find much unless you want to drive towards south-west Louisiana past Houma.

The Diocese of Lafayette web site does not even list French as a search option:
