Good church in NYC?
  • I am going to be in NYC for an audition on Immaculate Conception and am looking for a good place to go for mass. Besides St. Patrick's, any suggestions?

Holy Innocents on West 37th St. offers both the Latin and English Mass. Fr. George Rutler of EWTN fame is the pastor and Fr. Z will on occasion celebrate Mass there as well as other visiting priests so chances are you will hear an outstanding sermon! They have a professional and volunteer choir, both of which are also outstanding. Here's the website.

St. Agnes on 42nd St., near Grand Central Station, also offers a Latin and English Mass on Sundays and Holy Days, if I'm not mistaken, and also has a superb choir and schola.

Their website is here. Looks like they are having an organ recital this evening.

If you're in town tomorrow and have nothing to do, Grace Episcopal is having their Advent Lessons and Carols at 4 pm.

They'll be doing Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols next Sunday, Dec. 15 at 4 pm. Both events are free admission.

Julie, when did Fr. Rutler move from Our Saviour's?

Since Julie hasn't answered yet: a new pastor came in at Our Saviour around August 1.
  • Thank you much!
