Complete abstention from "alleluia"
it may be uttered outside of antiphons and the propers. When Easter falls in its somewhat typical range, the word is found of Prime of April 4 at the Marytrology, and it is always said in Lent in a reading of the second nocturn of Matins, on the fea…

I never encountered ecclesiastical Latin in the Latin classroom! Yeah, but did you encounter dental t's or non-diphthongized long e's in the Latin classroom? Should be the same for classical Latin, but few teachers are picky about pronunc…

PS - I think some of the lazy pronunciations stem as much from what is tolerated in the Latin classroom as from the choir room or voice studio.

Latin pronunciation
The aspirated consonants k (also hard c and qu), p, and t are pronounced with a strong puff of air in good English or German diction. In church Latin, we should use a dental t, just as in Spanish, Italian, or French. It's not a d. More like …

Do you sing the Mass Ordinary in read Mass?
However, because the 1962 missal lacks rubrics for the people, there is actually nothing to prevent much of the NO goings on in the older form. For example, one can complain about polka masses in the NO. But nothing in the 1962 missal would prevent …

Status of Mass Propers Added by Pius XII
I've mentioned it elsewhere, but the Pius XII gradual for the Assumption uses the Vulgate text in the Missal but the new Bea Psalter text in the chant books, resulting in the most significant Missal-Gradual divergence of any text.Graduale Roman…

For the new rite? It's referred to in paragraphs 48, 61, and 87 of the GIRM. The second edition of the Ordo Cantus Missae was published in 1988 and still refers to the 1908 edition. Any "official" book will have a decree of promulg…

@RomanticStrings These might be helpful, and you might find that it's not foreign at all but more comparable to every other kind of music you know than Solesmes and other chant interpretations, some of which are uncountable.
