mass setting query
  • A few months ago I downloaded a beautiful, unison/4 part, metrical mass setting from the musica sacra website, which is no longer there. Unfortunately I have mislaid the title page and I wonder if anyone can help me identify it. The Kyrie is modal and starts on E; the Gloria is in D major and has a note at the bottom saying 'revised 7-5-2011'. The Sanctus is in 6/8 and has 2 flats; the Agnus Dei is in E major. Each page has a decorative border at top and bottom. Thank you. Sarah_Clay

If you have any other pages of the score, can you scan and post a copy? Perhaps someone will recognize it.

I think you're referring to the Bancks setting, Sarah:

Hmm . . . having trouble finding the actual PDF. Did he take it down?

I did find a scan of the Sanctus here in another thread:

If it is indeed the Mass of the Most Sacred Heart by Jacob Bancks that you are seeking, then I have the compete mass setting, including both the complete edition and the congregation (melody) part. However, my download of the setting (2010-11-28) predates the 2011-07-05 revision. In all other respects, it fits the description given by Sarah Clay.
  • Yes that name and title rings a bell - many thanks for the help. I have the complete setting but had just lost the title page!
