For years, our choir has been singing the 4-part "Mass in Honor of St. Cecilia," minus the Credo, because that block of pages is missing. Years later, I'm wondering why we adapted to that practice, and just got along without it. The only identifying information that I have about this particular Mass, is the following notation: l' Abbe A. Cherion, Church of the Madeleine, Paris (1854-1904). There is an additional notation that the "Credo" was arranged for S.A.T.B. by James A. Reilly. Does anyone have information as to where I could locate the missing "Credo?" I have come up empty-handed.
I do see that the composer, Auguste Cherion, whose Credo I am searching for (see above), has been the subject of past threads, regarding an "Anima Christi" piece he wrote.
I just received a copy of the Soprano II score for Cherion's Messe de Ste. Cecile, compliments of forum contributor, "oldhymns." The other voice parts/full score obviously exist somewhere. If anyone should ever come across them, I would beg that you let me in on the treasure of seeing it.
Closure has been provided to this thread's title question. Forum member, oldhymns, has once again tracked down a couple of different pieces of music which had wholly eluded me. One of them, is Auguste Cherion's "Credo," from his " Mass in Honor of St. Cecilia."
I wish to express my gratitude to oldhymns for his perseverance, uncanny hunches, and great willingness to share!
