Director of Sacred Music Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Beech Grove, Indiana
Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Beech Grove, Indiana, is seeking a full-time Director of Sacred Music. This parish is located on the south side of Indianapolis and is the home of about 900 families with a parish school of 275 children from Pre K to Grade 8. The person filling this role would be required to provide organ-accompanied music for all Sunday Masses, Holy Days of Obligation, funerals, weddings, major civil holidays, parish feast day, All Soul’s Day, Corpus Christi processions and two school Masses per week during the school year. The parish’s organ is a Casavant with fifteen ranks and two manuals.
In addition, the Director of Sacred Music would direct the adult and middle school choirs and cantors for Sunday Mass liturgies as well as several programs including: Christmas Concert, School Christmas Program, and Living Way of the Cross. Adult choir rehearses weekly and middle school choir twice weekly during the school year.
Requirements: Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Music preferred. Three years experience in sacred music direction desired. Must be an accomplished organist and singer. Experience in choir direction and working with young people in a teaching role also preferred. Should be familiar with Catholic liturgy and Catholic Church teaching on sacred music.
