What are some of the things you've done that have been really helpful for you professionally, other than church music conferences? I need to use up my study leave by the end of the year, and I'm trying to find something both creative and useful to do. (Tai chi workshop? Live in a monastery for a day? Seminar on handling grumpy parishioners?)
This may sound cliche, but go on a silent retreat. That will help you a great deal professionally and spiritually every year. It seems harder every year to find quiet!
