I've been reading a bit about the Eastern churches and this morning my mind started to contemplate how interesting it is that when the Byzantines started Latinizing their rites, Rome encouraged them to embrace their own traditions wholly and to not concern themselves with mirroring Western brethren. The opposite occurs within American churches, who insist upon de-Latinizing the Latin rite and creating their own traditions foreign to the rite they celebrate. Then Rome strongly discourages it.
Easterners try to be like Rome, Rome says your thing is beautiful, focus on that. Westerners think that Rome ought to listen up because obviously Rome doesn't know what Rome actually meant by what Rome said.
Why can't we just celebrate the mass of Vatican II? It's beautiful when done as written.
