For those who knew him or knew of him, or heard him play Charles Tournemire's wonderful and mystical organ work "The Seven Last Words of Christ," the news of the passing of the venerable Robert Glasgow, formerly of the organ department at the University of Michigan and champion of the French Symphonist School (especially Franck and Widor), will come as sad news indeed.
He was one of the last of a rare breed of organist. He was a gentleman and artist, passionate about his work and dedicated to the advancement of the organ as a unique, expressive instrument.
He will be missed.
Grant him rest, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
