I have just noticed that Masses XVI, XVII and XVIII do not have a Gloria setting. Will someone tell me why, please?
Moreover, the Sanctus and the Agnus Dei musical settings in the new translation are the Mass XVIII settings, or substantially so in the case of the Agnus Dei. Where do the Kyrie and the Gloria musical settings in the new translation come from, please?
1. Mass XVI is recommended for ferial days during Ordinary Time. 2. Mass XVII is recommended for Sundays in Advent and Lent. 3. Mass XVIII is recommended for ferial days during Advent and Lent.
Since none of these have Gloria on account of being a weekday (in the case of 1) or during Advent or Lent (in the case of 2) or both (in the case of 3), it wouldn't make sense to include a Gloria.
