St. Mary’s Church, Nutley, NJ invites applications for a stipendiary cantor vacancy.

Serving as one of two principal cantors, duties include singing customary liturgical Mass parts, several chant Propers, and leading congregational singing within a positive, collegial, professional environment. During the program year, the 5:30 pm Mass on Saturday and 9:00 & 10:30 am Masses on Sunday employ a cantor. Outside the program year, the 12:00 noon Mass on Sunday also employs a cantor. Numerous weddings and funerals, as well as customary holy days and occasional special liturgies. Experience in Gregorian chant and ability to read neumatic notation desired. As the music program continues to grow, depending upon interest and experience, other opportunities or responsibilities may be available.
