BUXWV 200-Komm heiliger Geist
  • Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at working on this Buxtehude piece next for my organ rep. BUXWV 200-Komm, heiliger Geist.

The only edition I can find online has an alto clef instead of a regular bass clef or f clef. Does anyone own a f clef arrangement they would be able to scan for me??

    Please let me know.

    Thanks!!
  • With a bit of practise it is easier to play with C clefs than one might think. And as Robert Schumann once pointed out: "Übe dich frühzeitig im Lesen der alten Schlüssel. Viele Schätze der Vergangenheit werden dir sonst verborgen bleiben." (Practise early the reading of the old clefs. Many treasures of the past will otherwise remain hidden to you.)

However I prepared and attached a quick-and-dirty edition made from a MIDI-file I found here using midi2ly. As alto and tenor together span an ambitus that would be far more appropriately written using the alto clef, it makes heavy use of ledger lines.

Why not expand your personal score library (and keep editors in business) by BUYING the works of DB?

+1 on reading alto and tenor clefs.
    Helps with reading G Chant.
    Also helps with at-sight transposing.
