Having nothing at all to do with sacred music, but I know there are many people here who know church documents extremely well, so here it goes: where is is mandated that the candles used at Mass and devotions be at least 51% beeswax? I looked in my early 20th century edition of the Catholic Encyclopedia, the GIRM, and everywhere else I could think. And oil candles seem clearly forbidden, yet I know several EF purists who don't seem to have a problem with them. I'm only asking because my friend, another Music Director, made fun of my church's candles... really ??
