Prefaces for All Souls Day - Ordinary Form
  • I am planning a Latin Mass in the OF to be offered for the souls in purgatory. Can anyone provide a PDF of the chant settings of the Prefaces for the Dead in Latin? We do not have a Missal, (we are relying on a binder this year) so we do not have the chant available.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If it's any help, the book "Ordo Missae in Cantu" has the prefaces in chant notation.
  • And while we're at it, could someone also post Eucharistic Prayer I in Latin chanted?

Not sure if the text is the same as in the EF, but if by chance it is, you could print it off a page from one of the online scanned 1962 missals.
  • One can go to ICEL's website and get the music for pretty much the entire Missal.

  • Hi Adam, I am only able to find the English texts on ICEL's website, not the Latin.
  • Preface I for the Dead in the OF Latin missal is the same as the Praefatio Defunctorum of the EF Missal. You can hear the Roman Canon chanted by Fr Z, where you can look at the corresponding page of the Ordo Missae in cantu.
