Is the intention of the Mass announced anywhere in the extraordinary form of the Mass? Is my memory correct, or were Mass intentions not taken for Sundays Masses before Vatican II? Just curious. It got me thinking because they are always announced in my parish, but all Masses here are in the ordinary form.
It is not necessary in the EF or OF to announce Mass intentions during Mass. The intentions are uttered by the celebrant in the appropriate place during the Canon, whether living or deceased.
One of the Sunday Masses must be said "pro populo" (for the people). This is the case in the EF and OF.
