    Thank you, Nisi, for mentioning this article. The book in question is one of the finest musicological works published in our language for decades - there seems almost nothing that Professor Yearsley can't do with words, or with his own organ-playing on CD for that matter - and when I had finished reading his volume, I was determined to give it whatever publicity I could.

    Just out of curiosity, Francis, why the "hmmm"? Aversion to Bach? To organ music per se?

    no, i am so taken up with the subject of sacred music at this point, that the subject of bach and organ music (two of my most favorite subjects) is unfortunately on the back burner. wish i had the time!
