Reference: cf. “Viri Galilæi”, Graduale Simplex, Ascension, Introit, pp. 178–179
Source Text:
Antiphon: cf. Acts 1:11 (ICEL)
Psalm Verses: Ps 67(68):2, 5, 6b–7a, 8–9a, 9bc, 19ab, 20, 33–34a (Revised Grail Psalter, approved for public worship); traditional Glory Be
Mode: VII
Voicing: SATB a cappella/unison choir/cantor + keyboard; soprano line may be sung a cappella
The text ICEL provides for this Simplex proper is more a paraphrase than a translation, presumably for more accessible sung participation from the congregation. The original Latin is the same in the Graduale Simplex, Graduale Romanum, and Missale Romanum. If there is demand to set the lengthier, more accurate English text, I will do so; otherwise, this setting should suffice.
Other English-language SATB settings of Graduale Simplex propers available here.
