    Now that we have had the translation of the Mass restored to accuracy, I am sure many Catholics would welcome the restoration of the texts of traditional catholic hymns. For example, Father Faber wrote this first verse to his famous hymn

    Faith of Our Fathers, living still,
    In spite of dungeon, fire and sword.

    This is particularly appropriate to today's feast of St. Paul, Miki and companions who were martyred by the sword.

    He did not write the following, as in today's morning office in ibreviary.com

    Faith of Our Fathers, faith and prayer
    Shall win all nations back to thee.

    Can we please revert to the more powerful words and express our faith as our fathers did?

    This is just one of many examples. I grew up singing "Immaculate Mary, Your praises we sing,
    You reign now in splendor with Jesus, Our King.

    This is not what is presented to us in most cases today.

    Are you serious? Do you know what you are saying???
    Why, having our children sing about dungeons, fire and sword
    would give them horrible nightmares and create emotional problems for life.
    All these texts with their antiquated imagery need to be sanitised for our time.

    Besides, all those nasty old texts are in the public domain! We can't afford to have our Catholic music publishers go out of business.
