St. Joan of Arc, a Roman Catholic parish of 1,800 families located in Toledo, Ohio, is seeking a
Director of Liturgical Music. This full-time, salaried position is available immediately. Starting date is negotiable.Primary responsibilities:
Playing the organ and/or directing the parish choirs at liturgies including four weekend parish Masses, weekly school Masses, holy days, funerals, weddings, and other
occasions
Directing weekly choir rehearsals
Planning all liturgical music and developing worship aids
Maintaining the music library and instruments
Minimum qualifications:
Proficiency on the organ
Strong choral conducting ability
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Thorough understanding of the Roman Catholic liturgy and standard
3 years experience as a parish music director
Bachelor's degree in music preferred, although candidates will be evaluated primarily on ability and experience
Good vocal ability
Experience directing a handbell choir
The parish's instruments include:
Three-manual Allen digital organ
Yamaha grand piano
5 octaves of Malmark handbells
Music ensembles:
20-voice adult choir
handbell choir
cantors
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Health insurance and participation in the diocesan pension plan included, as well as other benefits. This position reports directly to the pastor.
