Very nice article about Michael Olbash's new choir, the The Blackstone Valley Catholic Youth Choir. Article titles: "New children's choir sings traditional tune." He has been teaching them a great deal of chant. beautiful work Michael!

The significance of this article is the implied admission that there is some dissatisfaction within the local Church regarding the direction of liturgical music, particularly as it relates to the development of children. In all the years I’ve been reading the Pilot, the official media organ of the Boston Archdiocese, I’ve never read anything that hints this might be the case.
Interestingly enough, this article was written by Christine Williams, a reporter from the "Anchor," the official newspaper of the Diocese of Fall River. The Blackstone Valley region is not in the Fall River diocese, nor do any of the youth choir members come from parishes in the Fall River diocese. Christine is known for her reporting on family and life issues, and I think perhaps she was drawn to this story because she realizes that giving children a steady diet of reverent liturgy is as important to their upbringing as exercise and vegetables.
It was nice that the Pilot (Archdiocese of Boston) and the Catholic Free Press (Diocese of Worcester) picked up the article.
