Friends, came across this wonderful translation of "Crux Fidelis" a few months ago at the Pray Tell blog . . . but google isn't turning up anything regarding it's origins. Does anyone know it? Translator? Whether the person did the full text?

Crux fidelis

O faithful cross, most noble tree among all others,
No forest puts forth such a flower, leaf, or seed:
Supporting a sweet burden with sweet wood and sweet nail.

Bend your branches, O tall tree, ease your tightened core,
Relax the hardness that birth gave to you
So that you might gently stretch the limbs of the Heavenly King on the stake.

You alone were worthy to bear the world's prize,
And to prepare a haven for the shipwrecked sailor of the world,
Anointed by the holy blood flowing from the body of the Lamb.
