Awake, Awake, and Greet the New Morn

    I was going through our hymnal and stumbled on this hymn. I never saw it before. Has anyone ever used it in the liturgy? I was surprised to see MH composed it.

    I've used it. I actually really like it! Let it not be said that I never say anything good about Marty Haugen :)

    He has contributed a lot. While not all of it is good stuff, there is definitely some out there that we should be aware of.

    I used this hymn in the past. Be very careful, however. There are two different versions- one for Advent and one for Christmas. The only difference is a mere two or three words in one of the stanzas, which I can't remember because I haven't used this hymn in 3 years and I don't have the hymnals it appears in.

    I agree, it's a good hymn. In a different season, with different words, that melody might not work, but for Advent/ Christmas it fits very well.
