This Sunday I am presenting a parish workshop titled "Encountering the Music of the New Missal". I'm preparing a powerpoint presentation and just thought I'd tap y'alls brains for ideas and suggestions of points that should be included.
A few things I'm planning to incorporate:
Why Catholics have the best music in the world ;) Very simple historical overview of Church music What do Church documents (especially recent ones) have to say about music in the Liturgy? What is the music of the new missal?
The time slotted is 1-hourish, and I need to keep this simple, upbeat/enthusiastic, and suitable for the kind of "set-in-their-ways" community I serve. :)
The kind of workshop you are describing has been his more-than-full-time job for the last few years. He has spoken to groups of every size and temperament, including liberal musicians, conservative priests, completely uninformed non-Catholics, and all sorts of regular parishioners.
