I certainly love the VII Hymnal the more I look through it . . . but a couple concerns about the psalms/readings:
1) Psalms: I've heard rumors of a revision of the Lectionary texts; can anyone share how they think this will play out? Is there a chance that these settings will become obsolete in the near future? (I went through an entire thread recently on approved psalms and I'm more confused than ever . . . )
2) Readings: Same questions, more or less. Is there a plan for a Lectionary overhaul?
My two cents: books like the Vatican II Hymnal and GIA's "RitualSong" will have to be revised when the new Lectionary comes out (whether that is tomorrow or in five years, or in 35 years).
We (just like GIA's RitualSong) use the Readings and psalms that are in the CURRENT Lectionary.
If I may, let me also suggest that the Vatican II Hymnal is MORE useful, in the sense that even if they do decide to replace the Lectionary, the PROPERS still hold good !
