In thinking through my page to help the 'clueless, panicked, volunteer music director,' I keep getting reminded of this story.

A colleague, now retired and well into her '80's, recalled taking her Italian mother-in-law to Mass right after the implementation (or imposition) of the Novus Ordo. Bear in mind that the Italian for "Mass" is "Messa."

Well, they got the full deal--a guitar Mass, no doubt featuring all the innovations that everyone here dislikes or more, That was then brand, spanking new, and the mother-in-law loved it.

She exclaimed, "I have never seen such a mess!!"
