Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sacramento, CA. is accepting applications for the position of Director of Music Ministry. The successful candidate will be skilled vocally and chorally as well as at piano and/or organ and is familiar with a variety of music that ranges from ancient chant to modern liturgical and sacred music. Bachelors in music degree or the equivalent in life experience in organ/piano performance, choral conducting, sacred music and/or church Music is required. A knowledge and proficiency of the Roman Catholic liturgy and a solid understanding of Roman Catholic liturgical documents and Sacramental Rites is necessary to serve in this position. The director will recruit, train and direct choirs and cantors.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Plan and oversee the music at the 4 weekend masses: integrating the best of the Church’s entire liturgical music repertoire, both traditional and contemporary.
2. Recruit, rehearse and conduct/oversee the Adult choir.
3. Schedule cantors and other musicians as needed.
4. Oversee the implementation of music for the 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal (Advent 2011) according to recent Church Documents.
