At an EF Mass, where there is no offertory "procession" of bringing up the gifts, when is the best time to take up a collection? Unlike the Novus Ordo Mass, the "collection" is not brought up to the sanctuary with the gifts of bread and wine. Also, when is the best, correct, place in the EF Mass to make announcements? Pre Vatican II, they were usually made at the time of the homily.
Collections are still taken up at the offertory. Only there is no ceremonial "bringing up the gifts". The money gets placed into the bag in the narthex (or perhaps the back of the nave) and brought to be rectory to be counted in a low-key manner.
As for announcements, same as pre-V2. At Holy Name in Providence, where I played the EF for four years, it goes thus: after the gospel: 1. Announce that the Mass is offered for N. Please kneel. (Our Father/Hail Mary/Glory Be/Eternal Rest...all in English) 2. Announcements 3. Re-reading of the Epistle and Gospel from the pulpit in English 4. Homily
