Does anybody know of an alternatim setting of 'Missa Primitiva', or pieced one together for themselves from a number of sources? Just thought that it would be a nice way of introducing a congregation to polyphony.
A few years ago, I bugged Susan Treacy about an alternatim setting of the "Missa Primitiva/Jubilate Deo) by the late Calvert Shenk, that he had composed for her choir at Franciscan. Nice, but the setting is in manuscript form only, and Susan is the only person I know who has it. She may mail you a copy if you ask . . .
I have identified 4x Kyrie, 2x Gloria, 2x Credo, 2x Sanctus and 2x Agnus Dei, which should be commonly known by congregations and would be a sufficient minimum to provide for varying liturgical seasons. I'm compiling them into a resource booklet for a small new gregorian schola I am assisting.
