New Mass Setting Options

    Hi There! I am new on the scene and am trying to find all the possible new mass settings so that we can learn something other than a revised "Mass of Creation" etc. come Advent. Please let me know how many there are to choose from and where I can find them. Thanks a bunch!

    I browsed around OCP, GIA, and WLP last night to see what they have to offer, and actually found something that I think might work well for my parish, and to me seems like a rather brilliant concept.

    "Mass of Charity and Love"

    Description: "A noble, simple, and accessible new Mass setting based on the popular hymn 'Where Charity and Love Prevail'."

    Those three adjectives -- noble, simple, and accessible -- very aptly sum up the approach I take, and I find this Mass to excellent fulfill them.

    ...plus, its style and phrasing are reminiscent of chant. I couldn't help but notice the contrast to so many other Glorias I listened to that were strongly metered in 3/4 or 6/8!

    Personally, I would use the Unity Mass gloria whenever possible. That is, if you want to make me puke. :P

    Seriously though, here's a couple good non-chant settings:

    Community Mass
    Mass for the City
    German Mass (Has an instrumental part for strings that is quite nice, if that's your thing)

    Hello all! Where can we find MORE options?? MORE than the usual from usual publishers?? I for one, am desperate to see and hear MORE of what (currently unpublished) composers have to offer!! For example: what about all of those submissions to the NPM Mass competition that didn't win?? Please offer some feedback on this. Thanks!

    You have to download the Scorch plugin from Sibelius and then you can see the score and hear a computer generated performance. There are directions on the page at Score Exchange.

    Has anyone seen the Mass of Grace by Lisa Stafford (WLP)? Has a refrain Gloria and a through-composed. The through-composed is in chant style and very nice.
