Music Director/ Organist

Church of the Incarnation, located in Rio Rancho, NM, is building a new church. Completion date is anticipated for late Spring, 2011. The parish uses the Novus Ordo and desires to provide music in keeping with the solemnity and beauty of the Roman Liturgy.

This is an opportunity for the Music Director to form and develop the Music Ministry to serve the Liturgy.

Primary responsibilities include:
• Recruiting and maintaining an adult choir
• Planning the music for all liturgies
• Developing a plan for a children’s choir and recruiting and maintaining children’s choir once formed.
• Meeting and working with Pastor and Parish staff to coordinate music needs in the parish
• Functioning as Cantor as needed
• Providing organ accompaniment as needed.

Estimated Hours per week: Full Time position.

Salary and Compensation: Depends on level of education and experience.

Type of Instrument: Current (temporary): Allen 282, 36 stop 2 manual.
For the new church: Allen Model Q-370. 3 manual, 58 stop, digital with some hybrid capacity for addition at a later date.

Requirements: Prefer bachelors degree or higher in Sacred Music, Choral Conducting or Organ Performance. Choral conducting for Roman Catholic Liturgy experience: 5 years.

Will consider applicants with five or more years of experience in lieu of diploma.

Applicant must be practicing Roman Catholic.
